References are one of the key components when it comes to creating an excellent CV that is sure to gain you an interview and a job further down the road. References show gratitude regarding the work that you have already done, no matter what that work may have been.
References in Your CV
Your references that will be included in your CV should be in a separate section. References in cv have contact details and smaller paragraphs for testimonials. Keep in mind that this section should be short, no more than two or three sentences, with a font of Times New Roman, Calibri or Arial and the font size of 10 or 12. They should be attached with your CV and take up no more than half of a page, try to get them to take up a quarter of the page maximum.
Keep in mind that you should only have references for cv if they are requested by the interviewer, the hiring manager or the employer. It’s always a great idea to have references available while you are job searching, however, so always have them on hand just in case. Remember to follow up with said references before you mention them to the employer or whoever is interviewing you.
What You Should Include
For your entire application you should be including the following:
- Two pages of a CV, less if you can.
- A cover letter if you feel that you need it, or if it has been requested by the interviewer.
- A list of at least three references in cv, they must be professional and not your parents or your best friend, with email addresses and telephone numbers.
